Theft Intervention Services

Persons who have received charges for theft are required in some cases to take educational classes to address the issue of theft, robbery, kleptomania or a variety of different acts that might be similar in nature.

Classes have two purposes. One is to enlighten and educate persons on the different forms of theft and the impact that it has on the community. The other is to identify whether there is cognitive distortions or if there is issues regarding mental health and stability when it comes to making choices.

Anger Management

Anger is a lot like hunger. Not because its a hormonal phenomenon with physiological effects but because it requires one to manage it, to do something about it or things will get worse.

PSAS would like to focus on the concept of normalizing the emotion of anger. There are some that experience anger multiple times a day as an everyday occurrence. Sometimes hiding the emotions, repressing them and imploding. Sometimes displaying the emotions impulsively, lashing out and exploding. Both responses are problematic and can have long term negative effects on someone.

Classes are provided to assist giving persons the cognitive tools necessary in maintaining a lifestyle that incorporates repetitious, monotonous bad habits of acting out with angry behaviors and more socially acceptable, progressive and positive behaviors.

CD Education

Are composed of lessons that educate persons on the perspectives on the disease of addiction, identification of triggers, the effects of co-dependency, the particular theories that PSAS utilizes in therapy and a multitude of other topics that can span over 40 weeks. In cases that require specific hours to accommodate certain stipulations for in state or out of state court proceedings, individual session or group sessions can be provided.

Relapse Prevention

Geared for persons that have a history of treatment services or a familiarity with recovery paradigms. There is a 5 step, in depth plan that covers the development of a supportive network of people and other factors that lead to relapse and factors  that can sustain recovery efforts.

Life Skills

Focuses on the personal development of an individual towards specific goal or objectives. PSAS takes the life skills that one possesses and assist in developing them to enhance and strengthen their efforts in life towards goals while in recovery. These sessions meet less frequent than other services and focuses on communicating the factors that are taking place in life that could potentially present problems for recovery efforts. Services can be utilized as a form of individual outpatient services.
